Abstract

An attempt is made to investigate the features of the comet Encke’ coma on the basis of its optical observations. The orbit of the comet Encke is obtained on the interval from 1993 to 2014 which covers 7 apparitions of the comet and in cludes 3044 observations. The Marsden’s model has been used to account nongravitational effects. The analysis of residuals shows that the number of observations where the O–С values exceed the 3σ criterion grows substantially near the perihelion passings of all the considered apparitions. Abnormal observations are focused on about ±100-day intervals with respect to the perihelion passages. Our analysis of the O–С shows that it is possible to assume the existence of emissions in some cases. They are observed as false cometary nuclei and are showed up in the systematic deviations of the residuals.
