Abstract

The VLBI data transfer technology in e-VLBI mode using high-speed optic fiber channels has been implemented in IAA RAS for the first time in Russia. e-VLBI technology (real-time VLBI) is widely used over the world for astronomy and it is expected to be basic data transfer technology from observatories to correlators and processing centers. The investigations of e-VLBI technology on radio interferometric complex "Quasar-KVO" were started in IAA RAS in 2008 using 100 Mbps scientific communication channel. This article describes network channels scheme between Quasar VLBI complex observatories and Correlation and Processing Center of RAS used for e-VLBI technology, and experimental data of average throughput and overall transfer time for real one-hour e-VLBI observation sessions on Quasar network. First results of real-time observation on Badary station with EVN (The European VLBI Network) are also presented.
