About the paper Full textAbstract
We discuss the project for modernization of kinematic modules, machinery, drives and the control system of the Flat reflector panels of the RATAN-600 “South sector and Flat reflector” antenna system. The project for modernization of the Circular reflector panels was proposed earlier. The modernization of panels of the Circular and Flat reflectors would increase their poisitioning accuracy and speed, the instrument operation versatility and reliablility, and allow to realize perspective modes of the antenna system operation, including the prolonged tracking and scanning regime of the “South and Flat” antenna system. Furthermore, the modernization would stop the progressive wear of the exisitig kinematic modules and inevitable increase in the instrument operational cost. Following the modernization, the Flat reflector positional agility, hence the number of observations of discrete celestial sources on the “South and Flat” antenna system, could be increased by an order of magnitude. The concept and the pecularities of the Flat reflector panels modernization, calculation and modeling results, as well as an estimate of the necessary costs are presented.
