About the paper Full textAbstract
State of the art analog-to-digital converters (ADC) allow for direct sampling of radio signals without mixers and local oscillators. It gives an opportunity to replace most of the analog equipment in a signal chain of radio telescopes by a compact digital backend. Digital signal processing (DSP) reduces losses of sensitivity in radio interferometers which is a significant advantage over the analog equipment. The paper presents a project of the Direct Sampling Backend for radio telescopes of the “Quasar” VLBI network.
