Abstract

Ethernet is widely used in different data-transferring applications. It is considerably advanced in comparison with the obsolete RS 485 interface which is used in monitoring & control system of QUASAR radio telescopes. A special interface module board has been developed in order to migrate to Ethernet. It is based on the W5100 chip by Wiznet. Also, a new version of receiver control boards is developed. An infrastructure for Ethernet network is installed at Svetloe observatory. Badary and Zelenchukskaya are scheduled in 2014. Using Ethernet allows expanding considerably a variety of diagnostic, monitoring and control functions built in radio receivers. All functions are available for a remote operator by special software developed.
