About the paperAbstract
It is reported about of search works for improving the kinematic characteristics of the reflecting elements RATAN-600. The results of the modernization of several RATAN-600 reflecting elements were described. The aim was to increase accuracy, speed and flexibility of positioning and significant increase in the efficiency of short-wavelength observations. The use of modern kinematic equipment allowed us to increase accuracy of reflecting element installation on radii/declination/azimuth axes by 6/4/2 times, reduce backlash by 2-4 times, the installation accuracy of a reflecting element on 8-10 times and to achieve repeatability of the installation of reflecting element up to microns. The efficiency of the kinematic scheme increases in many times the reliabilities and service life of the new kinematic equipment together with advanced digital communications. The power consumption of drive reduced significantly. As a result of modernization of the reflecting element kinematics improving the accuracy of focusing mirror positioning and increasing the aperture of the instrument the RATAN-600 instrument capabilities could be extended significantly.
