The possibility of an interstellar empire
Transactions of IAA RAS, issue 22, 42–52 (2011)
Keywords: Extraterrestrial civilization, SETI, exoplanet, interplanetary empire
About the paperAbstract
For as long as people have looked in the sky, they have imagined extraterrestrial civilizations populating the planets and the stars. The idea of interplanetary empires has already entered the realm of science-fiction and many science-fiction writers have even elaborated on such empires. The reality may be otherwise. Is it possible that an Alien civilization could have really established colonies outside its own star system? This paper will make a survey of possible motivations and technological capabilities, within the reality of Physics, for the establishment an interstellar empire
