Abstract
Research and technical problems determine requirements to the volume of measurements related to the Earth gravitational field parameters and to the quality of gravimetric data. Both the absolute value of the free fall acceleration and its spatial and time variations are issues of scientific interest. The relative gravimeters based on gravimetric networks and, much more rarely, absolute ballistic gravimeters can be used for the measurements. Taking into account the characteristics of the latter (accuracy, stability, lack of necessity to be linked to basic networks) it appears expedient to implement the ballistic method into the practice of high-accuracy measurements and to develop the State Primary Measurement Standard based on the ballistic gravimeter.
