Abstract

Satellite laser ranging (SLR) can be used in space geodesy as follows: to determine satellite orbits and to control their accuracy; to synchronise the onboard and ground-based time scales; to calibrate the ground-based and onboard radio equipment; as a backup tool for trajectory measurements to determine orbits in an emergency situation. Nowadays laser corner reflectors are installed on all GLONASS satellites, their installation is planned for all Galileo, Beidou and those GPS III satellites which have appeared since the GPS-III-SV9. The article describes possible ways to use SLR for the GLONASS.
