References related to the Online Ephemeris Service

This service is created and provided by the Institute of Applied Astronomy RAS.

Some freely available data (see below) is used for the calculation of the ephemeris tables. The scientific software engine used in the calculation has been written in the IAA and is not distributed.

The engine of the site uses fundamental ephemeris in a binary format called BSP (also known as the format used by the SPICE toolkit. The fundamental ephemeris files were downloaded from the distributors' websites. No changes were made to the original binary files, with the exception of de405.bsp which was converted from big endian to little endian format.

The engine of the service uses Racket as the primary software platform, with selected modules implemented in C. Some other third-party freely available software is being used (see below). The SPICE toolkit mentioned above is not used in this service.
