Abstract

Results of experimental/theoretical investigations of the Nd:YAG/I and HeNe/CH4 optical frequency standards based on 532 nm iodine and 3392 nm methane line obtained at different labs are discussed. New technological and physical improvements with HeNe/CH4 OFS are proposed and partially realized. In particular, a monoblock double-mode HeNe/CH4 OFS with considerably improved passive stability and Q-factor of laser resonator is demonstrated. A new generation оf HeNe/CH4 OFS is promising for achieving a short and long-term stability (relative Allan deviation) at the 1010 level (1105 s averaging time).
