Precise Determinations of VLBI Network Baselines

Abstract

Baselines of the VLBI network are determined from all available observations. Time series of VLBI antenna reference point coordinates are used for obtaining mean baseline lengths referred to the standard epoch 2000.0 and velocities of baselines. Baselines between reference points of VLBI-antennas are compared with those obtained from the coordinates of GNSS-antenna markers and local geodetic data at the observatories. The comparison shows that the differences do not exceed 1 cm. The same comparison for baseline velocities obtained from VLBI and GNSS observations shows maximum discrepancy of about 3 mm/year. The issues of practical using of baselines determined from VLBI observations in applied areas are also discussed.
