Keywords: free fall acceleration, absolute ballistic gravimeter, comparison, calibration, metrology

Abstract

Recent progress in the development of transportable absolute ballistic gravimeters considerably enlarged the possibilities for measuring the gravity field on the Earth. The determination of metrological characteristics of absolute gravimeters can be performed in specially organized comparisons of the results of their measurements. Close cooperation between metrology and geodesy-geophysics communities paves the way for the consecutive organization of the system of metrological assurance in absolute gravity measurements
