About the paper

Abstract

The sharp rise of the experimental data volume is directly connected with experimental base modernization and development of basic researches. First of all, it concerns physical, astronomical and space researches. In work the history of a solution of a problem of storage and processing of the experimental data received on radio-astronomical complexes of the Pushchinsky radio-astronomical observatory, from РС and local file servers to the specialized and distributed storehouses is traced. It is shown that the creation and maintenance of data warehouses Terra and Peta byte quantities requires completely different approach and a new style of work. Data storage of great volume requires serious hardware facilities, highly qualified personnel, and, moreover, the special premises to ensure optimal operation of the equipment. On the other hand it is necessary to note the rapid growth at reasonable prices all bandwidth communication lines. The emergence of "thick" communication channels allows us to consider as the best option the remote collective scientific centre for data storage and processing.
