Calculations of forced elements of asteroid orbits

Abstract

Forced elements of asteroid orbits were calculated from the osculating ele-ments of asteroid orbits for different intervals of semi-major axis. The derived values of forced elements are depicted in plots versus semi-major axis and comparison with theoretical curves by Brouwer and Van Woerkom is made. The main disagreement with the theoretical results is noticeable in the neighbourhood of 2.6 a. e., where the theoretical curves of forced eccentricity and forced longitude of perihelion have singularities, while the calculated curves have no ones. Besides, there is essential divergence of the curves for forced eccentricity near the 3:1, 2:1, 3:2 orbital resonances with Jupiter
