Determination of UT1 in e-VLBI mode

Abstract

Rapid determination of UT1 corrections is one of major applications of VLBI observations that required for support of global satellite navigation system GLONASS. It may be evidently realized only using data transfers via high-speed fiber optic channels. The project of connection of the Quasar Network observatories by fiber optic channels of leading Russian network providers is implemented at first time in Russia. At present one-hour observing sessions for obtaining UT1 are carried out weekly. The data from two observatories are transferred simultaneously via two 100 Mbps channels using e-VLBI technology.
