Results of Highly Accurate Prediction of UT1 in 2008-2009 for Ephemerides and Time Support of GLONASS

Abstract

Results of accuracy assessment of a method of Earth Rotation Parameters (EOP) prediction developed at Siberian Research Institute of Metrology (SNIIM). The method is based on representation of EOP series by set of large number of harmonic terms, which approximates regular and quasi-regular processes in the Earth's rotation at the interval of 75 and more years. To investigate the accuracy of this method we processed 111 UT1 predictions made in real time during the period from January 2008 till April 2009. For comparison, UT1 predictions made in IERS (USNO) and the Russian State EOP Service (VNIIFTRI) made at the same date as SNIIM predictions. Analysis of predictions made in these three centers has showed that the results of UT1 predictions made at SNIIM are more accurate than results obtained in other centers
